i want my father Here is a poem by a Palestinian child that describes the situation in Gaza and how the things are commented in her little and innocent heart.


father! they say you're a convict
father! you are not a convict
father! why they withheld you from me?

father! they've arrested you
without kissing me for once
without wiping my mom's tears

mom! i see tears in your cheeks
every morning; doesn't palestine
deserve everything?
i'm shouting to sun everyday.

mom! would i be able to see
daddy once again? or, or, i won't
see him till doomsday?

or will my mom's tears run
till doomsday? father!
where are you father!
eh! my crushed childhood

eh my crushed childhood!
i'm the flower of palestine

i never kissed my father
since sun is risen
eids and festivals chasing each
other. martyr is falling after martyr

my daddy is behind the bars
behind the walls where
slaves are kept.

when is that day?
what time bars will
be broken up?

fathers! who kiss their kids every morning!
