    AZ-ZINAA (FORNICATION/ADULTERY) -

    Rule no.1

for precaution from Zinaa , Do not even go near to what will lead you to Zinaa. Therefore lower your gaze from forbidden things.

This rule applies to both, men and women. There are numerous traditions in this regard.

It is narrated from Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as): “There is no man who is not to some extent guilty of fornication. The fornication of the eyes is the evil glance, the kiss is the fornication of the lips and touching a Non-Mahram woman is the fornication of hands”.

It is also recorded that: “Those who look at a Non-Mahram woman with an evil intention and fill their eyes with this sight (that is they look for a long time), Allah will, on the day of judgement pierce their eyes with burning rods. They will continue in this way till Allah completes the hearing of the cases of all the people. Only after that will He order them to be thrown into Hell”.

The Holy Prophet (saw) has been reported saying: “The wrath of Allah is very severe upon the married woman who apart from her husband sees another Non-Mahram man with a prolonged glance. When this woman does this, Allah, the Almighty invalidates all her good deeds and does not give her any rewards”.
    RULE NO.2

Do not be alone in the company of a Non-Mahram.

Islam does not permit one to be absolutely alone in the company of a Non-Mahram when there is a risk of committing a sin, even though they may be busy in act of worship. Once again this rule applies to both, men and women.

The Holy Prophet (saw) has said: “One who believes in Allah and the Day of Judgement does not remain in a place where (even) the sound of breathing of Non-Mahram women is heard”.

Imam Ja’ffar as-Sadiq (as) has said: “When the Holy Prophet (saw) took allegiance from the women he told them to make an oath that they shall not sit alone in the company of Non-Mahram men”.

A lonely place is where there is no chance for anyone else to enter. Like a room, the door of which is locked from inside, or a place not frequented by people. The logic behind this has been given in another hadeeth which states that:

Wherever a Non-Mahram man and Non-Mahram woman are together, the third one with them is Iblees (satan) who will do his utmost to lure both of them to sin.
    RULE NO.3

    Muslim women must observe Hijaab.

    This is a Quranic instruction.

“And say to the believing women to lower their eyes, guard their private parts, and not display their adornment save what is apparent outwardly, and draw their veils over their bossoms, and not to display their adornments except to their husbands………………Let them not strike their feet so as to make known what they hide of their adornment…………….”

    (24:31)

Ayatullah Abdulhussein Dasti Ghayb writes in “Gunahaane kabeera”:

Muslim woman is ordered to veil herself. She must not come before Non-Mahram without Hijaab. She should dress in such a manner that strange men do not get an opportunity to glance at those parts of her body which arouse passion; and thus make her an object of desire.

In the Tafseer of the above verse, S.V.Mir Ahmad Ali writes:

Islam does not allow free and unrestricted intermingling of the sexes. It insists upon segregation of the sexes and bans altogether lewd audio and video presentation of life, real as well as imaginary. It completely bans every form of nudity.

On account of the differentiation of the sexes in nature, temperament, and social life, a stricter discipline is required for woman than for man, especially in the matter of dress and public exhibition of the beauty of the body. Zinat implies the beauty of the body as well as the adornment a woman adds to make it more attractive and stimulating.
